Planeta stands for success, the success of a family that has been growing wine for generations. However, the big boom came in the 80s, when Alessio, Francesca and Santi Planeta started the first vineyards and the first winery in the province of Agrigento, more precisely in Ulmo. Today the Planeta brand includes vineyards on 6 wineries all over Sicily, from the provinces of Agrigento, through the provinces of Ragusa and Syracuse, up to Mount Etna and the northern tip of Sicily, Capo Milazzo.
The special merit of the Planeta family lies in the promotion of local grape varieties, as well as the integration of international
grape varieties (Merlot, Chardonnay, Syrah) in areas where it makes sense. Planeta today has the reputation of being Sicily's most renowned winery.
